Workcations
After a very successful 2022, our co-founders Kuvera, Ashish and Nelson (who you can meet here) came up with the crazy idea to get our entire company together in one room.
And whilst it sounds like a relatively easy task to do with a headcount of 40 (at the time), when your offices are on the other sides of the world to each other in Mumbai and London, making it happen isn’t so easy.
So it started with choosing the destination. Turkey felt right, given it was geographically halfway between us, alongside having gorgeous weather, and beaches of course. The hotel and dates were secured, and everything felt on track. Easy peasy, the planning was going well.
..Until, we realised that over 85% of the Mumbai office didn’t have up-to-date passports. So, Ashish worked day and night taking passport photos and collecting addresses, along with everything else needed these days to pass the stringent process of getting a passport.
But, we did it. And what a success it was.
Kuvera, our COO still talks about it 2 years on and says it’s one of his highlights since starting the company.
Since then, we haven’t been able to do a company-wide retreat again, but never say never. Pauline, our Head of People is still being asked on a weekly basis when the next one is.
However, some of our teams have been able to meet in person. Kuvera, Pauline, and Dom were lucky enough to spend a week in the Mumbai offices, experiencing the culture there firsthand, training the team, and tasting a variety of (spicy) Indian home-made dishes!
Our Product team, based in Mumbai, also came to London during Christmas 2023. Where they saw Winter Wonderland, many destinations around the capital, and spent several days in the slightly colder weather.
