Enter HowNow. Founded in 2019, our Learning and Skills Platform is disrupting the way people learn and upskill through technology. Whether it's finding a quick answer, learning skills or tapping into shared knowledge, we make it easy for people to learn what they need, when they need it.
Already used by fast-growing scale-ups and global enterprises, such as Trainline, Depop and TomTom weâre pushing the boundaries of how people learn.
Hi, I'm Kuvera, the COO & Co-Founder at HowNow đđž. Iâm looking for a Finance Manager to join us.
As we scale, getting our numbers right isnât a back-office job; itâs how we make good decisions quickly. Youâll work as a team of two as our go-to finance person, partnering with the leadership team and me to keep things running smoothly today while building the processes, controls, and reporting weâll need as we grow.
This isnât a role where youâll sit in one lane. One day youâll be closing the month, the next youâll be modeling a new hiring plan, answering an investor question or helping get the numbers in order for our India entity. If youâre a qualified accountant who wants breadth, real ownership and the chance to grow with a business rather than be a cog in one, weâd love to hear from you.
Alongside the opportunities to develop and grow your career, we're a fun and friendly bunch.
Day-to-day tasks will include đŠ
Management accounting & controls đ
Youâll own the month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly investor reporting.
Youâll report against our annual budget and keep our financial model up to date.
Youâll oversee cash flow and treasury, keeping a close eye on cash and runway.
Youâll own the year-end close and statutory reporting, acting as the main point of contact for our external accountants and auditors.
Youâll build and maintain finance controls around team budgets, expenses, and approvals.
Youâll manage and mentor our Assistant Accountant, helping them build their skills and grow their career.
FP&A & business partnering đ
Youâll collaborate with me as COO on budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting, including SaaS metrics such as ARR, churn, net revenue retention, and burn.
Youâll model P&L and cash flow across multiple growth and cost scenarios to support leadership, board, and investor conversations.
Youâll partner with GTM and other budget holders so they understand their numbers and use their budgets effectively.
Youâll support our external accountants on accounting and treasury for our India subsidiary, including intercompany balances.
Building as we grow đ ď¸
Youâll improve and automate our finance processes and systems as we scale, including using AI tools to remove manual work from reporting.
Youâll support wider compliance such as VAT, payroll checks and R&D tax credit claims, working with our advisers.
Youâll help prepare board packs and support any fundraising or due diligence activity.
Youâll get stuck into ad-hoc projects across the business, from pricing analysis to supplier reviews, wherever finance can add value.
The key things that we will be looking for in applicants đ
Youâre a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with around 1â2 years PQE and the drive to build on that experience in a growing business.
Youâve worked in a start-up, scale-up or SME environment and enjoy wearing lots of hats, moving between hands-on processing and bigger-picture analysis.
Understanding of SaaS revenue recognition and key SaaS performance metrics.
You have strong spreadsheet and financial modeling skills, and youâre comfortable building a model from scratch.
You can explain numbers clearly to non-finance colleagues and turn data into decisions.
Youâre a self-starter whoâs comfortable with ambiguity, and you see a missing process as an opportunity to build one.
You have high standards, attention to detail, and you care about getting things right the first time.
Nice to haves â¨
Experience with cloud accounting and spend management tools (for example, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar).
Experience working with multiple entities or international subsidiaries.
Exposure to fundraising, due diligence, or board reporting.
