Our mission is to make meaningful learning a part of your everyday 🧠. The shelf life of our skills is now less than 5 years. So, if you stopped learning today, your skills would soon be irrelevant. Think that’s a big problem? You’d be right.
Enter HowNow. Founded in 2019, our Learning and Skills Platform is disrupting the way people learn and upskill through technology. Whether it's finding a quick answer, learning skills or tapping into shared knowledge, we make it easy for people to learn what they need, when they need it.
Already used by fast-growing scale-ups and global enterprises, such as Trainline, Depop and Sanofi, we’re pushing the boundaries of how people learn.
Hi I'm Ashish Soundalkar the Product Design Lead at HowNow 👋🏾 I’m looking for a Product Designer to join us.
At HowNow, we value work-life balance and grant the freedom to design creatively. We offer continuous learning and upskilling opportunities, fostering professional growth in an environment where innovation thrives.
Joining HowNow means making a significant impact during our growth phase and working with highly competent peers. If you're looking to grow with a supportive and forward-thinking team, HowNow is the place for you.
Alongside the opportunities to develop and grow your career, we're a fun and friendly bunch. Have a watch of the video below to get an understanding of what it's like to work here.
Experience
3-4 years designing digital products end-to-end (web, mobile, or both) in a product-led team
Degree in Design, HCI, or Interaction Design - or a portfolio strong enough that it doesn't matter
Portfolio with 2–3 deep case studies: the problem, what you tried, what you discarded, what shipped, and what changed as a result
Has personally owned at least one feature from a vague brief through to release
Craft
Fluent in Figma, including components, variants, auto-layout, and variables; has worked inside a maintained design system rather than starting every file blank
Turns requirements into flows, IA, wireframes, and production-ready UI
Strong fundamentals in type, spacing, hierarchy, and colour; designs accessible interfaces by habit, not as a final checklist
Runs lightweight research - interviews, concept tests, usability sessions - and translates the messy output into decisions
Reads product analytics and experiment results, and can argue for a design using both evidence and taste
Prototyping With AI Coding Agents
This is central to how our team works - we build live prototypes with Claude Code rather than clickable Figma mocks.
Builds and iterates on real, deployed prototypes using an agentic coding tool; works in a terminal or IDE without hand-holding
Uses Git competently for everyday work: branching, committing, pushing, untangling a small mess
Working Style
Operates inside a squad with PM, engineering, and data; comfortable with shifting priorities and incomplete information
Explains design reasoning clearly to non-designers and holds a position when it matters
Gives and takes critique without ego
Writes things down - decisions, rationale, open questions
Self-directing; doesn't wait for a fully specified brief
Nice To Have
Startup or scale-up background
Motion and micro-interaction work (Rive, Lottie)
Has helped build a design system, not just consume one
Conceptual grasp of how LLMs behave - context, tokens, non-determinism
Builds small automations or internal tools for the design team
